Secure your website with a security certificate!


Almost all websites start with http:// or https://. The difference is in the ‘s’: that website is secured with a so-called security certificate, an SSL. Such an SSL, or rather TLS, can be recognized by ‘https’ before the URL and is a technique whereby the connection between the visitor of a website and the server where the website is accommodated is protected by very strong encryption. Advantage for Google

Recently, Google reported that a website with an SSL connection gets a higher ranking in the search results than a normal website. It is not immediately the case that you are no longer displayed in Google when you have a normal website, but you just do better with a secure site. Think for example of an unsecured importer website where you have a page that does have SSL: Google will then present your page above that of your competitors. It is therefore important to arrange an SSL quickly and this does not have to cost a lot of money or effort from your website builder.

Side effect

A side effect of an SSL page is that the data from Google Analytics is no longer correct. Referring visits from, for example, Marktplaats, which is an SSL website, to a dealer website that is not SSL, means that the referring traffic is no longer visible with the correct source. It then appears to be direct traffic and is also displayed as such. If it is referring traffic that does not have SSL, it is not a problem. So make sure that, even if only for your SEO results, you quickly buy an SSL certificate and install it on your website.
